American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature
for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”He’s the first American to be awarded the prize since 1993.
He also became the first musician to win the Nobel Literature prize
since it was first awarded in 1901.This is the most controversial award, because some people argue
that the Nobel literature prize should be given to writers, not to musicians;
meanwhile, many people have admitted Bob Dylan deserves the prize,
for he is a great poet, and has been an influential artist for more than five decades.Especially one of his most popular song “Blowing in the Wind”
has encouraged a lot of Americans in the 1960s when they were struggling
for the civil rights movements and anti-war movements.Steve Jobs, who was a big fan of Bob Dylan’s music, said in his biography;
“You always have to keep pushing to innovate.
Dylan could have sung protest songs forever and probably made a lot of money,
but he didn’t. He had to move on. The Beatles were the same way.
They kept evolving, moving, refining their act.
That’s what I’ve tried to do － keep moving.”

一つの固定した場所に留まらず、進化し続けた。私も彼らのような生き方をしたい」
