今週のジョーク：「話題はその人なりに」（原題：IQ professions）
Einstein dies and goes to heaven only to be informed that his room is not yet ready.
アルベルト・アインシュタインが亡くなりました。天国へ召されましたが、彼の部屋はまだ用意されていないと知らさせれました。
“I hope you will not mind waiting in a dormitory. We are very sorry, but it’s the best we can do and you will have to share the room with others”, he is told by the doorman.
「相部屋タイプの部屋で待っていただくことになりますが、お気になさらないといいのですが…。本当に申し訳ありません。しかし、これがいま私たちにできる最善のことなのです」と、天国のドアマンは彼にこう言いました。
Einstein says that this is no problem at all and that there is no need to make such a great fuss. So the doorman leads him to the dorm. They enter and Albert is introduced to all of the present inhabitants.
アインシュタインは、全然問題ないし、大げさですよと言いました。ドアマンは彼を相部屋へ案内しました。彼らが部屋に入り、アルベルトはそこの住人たちに紹介されました。
“See, Here is your first room mate. He has an IQ of 180!”
「こちらがあなたの１人目のルームメートです。彼はIQ180です！」
“Why that’s wonderful!” Says Albert.
「なんと素晴らしい！」とアルバート。
“We can discuss mathematics!”
「数学について議論ができますね！」
“And here is your second room mate. His IQ is 150!”
「彼は２番目のルームメート。IQ150です」
“Why that’s wonderful!” Says Albert.
「なんと素晴らしい！」とアルバート。
“We can discuss physics!”
「物理について議論できますね！」
“And here is your third room mate. His IQ is 100!”
「こちらが３番目のルームメートです。彼はIQ100です」
“That’s Wonderful! We can discuss the latest plays at the theater!”
「なんと素晴らしい！最新の演劇について議論ができますね！」
Just then another man moves out to capture Albert’s hand and shake it. ”I’m your last room mate and I’m sorry, but my IQ is only 80.”
すると、今度は他の男がアルバートのもとへやってきて、握手をしました。 「私は最後のルームメートです。残念ながら、私のIQは80しかありません」。
Albert smiles back at him and says, “So, where do you think interest rates are headed?”
アルバートは彼に微笑みこう言いました。「金利はどこへ向かっていると思いますか？」

さすが Einstein ですね。とても深い。IQ 80 の人には、ただ語らせて、discuss しようとしないところも勉強になります。
どうして“interest rates”なのかといえば、景気の動向って結局「みんながどう思うか？」に拠るからでしょう。
「みんな＝大衆＝IQ 80くらい」というわけです(個々人と大衆は違います)。
